Why say it is undocumented: https://opensource.apple.com/source/clang/clang-318.0.45/src/test/MC/ARM/arm-memory-instructions.s.auto.html
Clang seem to support them and yhou do not need special library that take advantage of, something like that:
char a,b,c;
c = a+b;
if(c<0)
{
}
could use it...
Why would they ever remove said instruction, it seem to be a very small set of extra one.
Even if we do not use any apple library (say a pure STL C project, nothing custom to MacOS), the compilers that target Apple Silicon could use those extra instruction, no ?
Chatgpt cannot run on your personnal hardware, they have over 200 billions weights (maybe in the trillion now) models running on supercomputer.
The app are only on apple at first I think (and will use Internet to talk with a server), not sure if they are available to everyone yet.
On your...
But why would they mind even at all if their binary run on other platform ?
It is not like it is uncommon (that why people usually care about open source after all, how often you better compile specifically for your target...)
I did read like if it was about them adding stuff than the other would not be able to run anymore so people must buy their hardware to run their software, not for them to remove from themselve the ability to run application library.
I was wrong rereading it, I guess it would change for people...
Didn't apple do this ? Not big but a short list of new custom instructions

This at first glance look quite impressive ?
+22% from the 13inch laptop form factor in multi thread ?
Like mentionned this i imagine for most only translate in much more battery life (has the Ipad will always just use very little of the chips), which is not useless for an Ipad...
That said...
ARM and what we call RISK now do the same:
aplpe A14:
Outside the simplest of simplest chips, a decoding to Micro-ops stage will always be present (and always been for x86 cpus since the 70s)
With modern CPU you probably want that stage and can be a net benefit to use most of your...
Look like it could be getting close to be out (maybe by 2025):
https://www.guru3d.com/story/rumor-mediatek-and-nvidia-to-collaborate-on-development-of-armbased-ai-pc-processor/
The design finalization, or tape out, of the processor is anticipated to occur in the third quarter of 2024, with...
In some game the question does not really apply, Avatar for example if you set the game at ultra settings will have RT used, it is not a separate setting, that why at max setting the 4070ti beat card like a 7900xtx, it could be because it is an AMD sponsered title and they asked them to hide the...
Must be a bit strange feeling to be a customer, the same day that :
https://nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/nvidia-grace-hopper-ignites-new-era-of-ai-supercomputing
Driving a fundamental shift in the high-performance computing industry toward AI-powered systems, NVIDIA today announced nine new...
According tot the description; What makes my PCI version of this card unique from the other two is that mine comes with a DVI port as well as a VGA port the other ones only has an VGA port and that’s because mine is a RARE ENGINEERING SAMPLE CARD.
hum... people have made custom version: What...
It is possible that max setting more and more will just enable RT without being a different option (think Avatar or some unreal 5 game that does not even have pre-baked light to use) and it is a bit already strange to call RT off has playing with Max setting in a game like Cyberpunk
What crack down occured if it was not over the copyright angle ? Seem anything you do with a nintendo IP would need to have some good fair use that hard to see here. The fact that it need the actual Nintendo copyrighted code like you say... Was it some IP infringement or commercial brand instead...
